Our view from the deck of the rental house in Fraser, Co
I am anxious to experience the Rockies this week. I haven't visited in such a long time. The beauty and variety of scenery our world has to offer never ceases to amaze me. The views from our rental house are stunning. I can't wait for the views from our hikes, fishing, off roading and white water rafting we have scheduled this week. We have a full week planned of adventure and reflection of the wonderful life and world God has given us.
"You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands." Isaiah 55:12
It is amazing what taking a break and a change of scenery can do. We are full of anticipation and appreciation for the breath taking views and upcoming pure adrenaline rushes. But, tonight, as we enjoyed the cabin, the winds picked up. It actually rained a bit. As the winds blew the trees swayed quite a bit and "clapped their hands". I think we should do the same. :-)
Old Glory and the snow capped mountains view from Fraser, Co.
This 4th of July was certainly one of the most unique ways we have celebrated our nation's independence. It was fitting for us to explore our great nation through the lens of rivers, national forests and, of course, fireworks.
Getting a little brave and not prepared with the right gear to wade the Fraser River.
After spotting a young mule deer, Kathryn and Landry, then eventually Jonah, decided to wade through the river tracking him while Kim and I walked the river trail. It wasn't too long before we realized the river trail parts from the river. Our kids were out of our sight and out of ear shot.
A skillfully made beaver dam on the Fraser River
Kim and I found a small path that led back to the river. We found this spot near a couple of beaver dams. There we waited for Kathryn, Landry and Jonah. However, we did not think it would be an hour. I headed back up the river while Kim waited. Eventually, Kim and kids reunited not far from this beaver dam.
A meadow view in the Arapaho Forest
After our river adventure, Kim, Landry, Jonah and I took a hike through the Arapaho National Forest just about a 1/4 mile from our cabin. The trails were rocky and lined with plenty of birch and evergreen trees. We did find this opening in the forest for a nice place to stop and enjoy the view.
